We are delighted to announce that Somesh Jha, Sheldon B. Lubar Professor of Computer Sciences at University of Wisconsin–Madison, has been selected to receive the 2025 ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control (SIGSAC) Excellence in Service Award. The award was presented at the flagship conference ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS) — Jha has been the chair of the steering committee for ACM CCS since 2014. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals whose exceptional professional service has advanced the cyber security research community.

Jha’s selection reflects his sustained commitment to service in areas such as conference leadership, editorial contributions, mentoring, and community building in security, privacy, and trust research. At UW–Madison, he has played a vital role in fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, launching programs that broaden participation in security research, and shaping the next generation of scholars. This award from SIGSAC not only honors his individual achievements but also highlights UW–Madison’s ongoing prominence as a hub for impactful security and privacy scholarship. We congratulate Professor Jha on this outstanding recognition and look forward to his continued contribution to the field.
