AI-Assisted Vision Annual Workshop

Opportunities and Challenges of Intelligent Assistive Technologies for Blind and Low Vision Individuals

The madAbility research lab, led by Dr. Yuhang Zhao at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in collaboration with Dr. Sanbrita Mondal (Chief of the Vision Rehabilitation Services at UW Health), Dr. Yapeng Tian (University of Texas at Dallas), and Dr. Jon E. Froehlich (University of Washington), will host the second AI-assisted Vision Workshop to explore the emerging landscape of intelligent assistive technologies for blind and low vision individuals!

Recent advances in AI present unprecedented opportunities for assistive technology. This workshop aims to bring together members of the blind and low vision communities, vision rehabilitation professionals, and researchers and practitioners in AI and accessibility to examine both the challenges and opportunities in this space. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, we seek to foster collaboration and ensure the development of AI-powered assistive technologies that are effective, ethical, and socially responsive to the needs of blind and low vision communities.
