UW–Madison’s Computer Sciences graduate program is now ranked 7th among public universities and 13th overall (three-way tie) according to the 2025 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools.”
“Our graduate programs provide a world-class education and research leadership across the entire academic spectrum,” says Charles Lee Isbell Jr., provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UW–Madison (formerly dean of the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology). “Taken together, they reflect a mutually reinforcing learning environment that helps prepare all our students for success.”
Computer Science: 13th overall (four-way tie). Ranked specialties include 11th in programming language (three-way tie), 23rd in artificial intelligence, 10th in systems (two-way tie) and 19th in theory.
