Mike Epley
Mike Epley graduated from UW-Madison in 2010 with a BS in Computer Sciences. During his time as an undergraduate, Mike also participated in Wisconsin Emerging Scholars (WES-CS) and worked for the Department of Information Technology (DoIT).
Mike is currently a software developer at Epic where he helps lead its most well-known application: MyChart. Since starting at Epic in 2010, Mike has centered his career around developing mobile applications and features that are used by millions of patients world-wide. In 2011, he was one of four engineers who launched MyChart Bedside – a tablet-based application aimed at connecting patients in the hospital with their care team, their loved ones, and their own medical information. In 2016, Mike moved on to lead the MyChart Mobile application – the #1 medical app in the App Store. His recent areas of focus include security, standards-based authentication, scalability & performance, and system architecture. Because of his ties to UWCS, Mike also helps foster and grow Epic’s partnership with the department through a variety of activities, including Epic’s annual UWCS picnic, UW’s offering of CS courses on Epic’s campus, and, of course, participation on the Computer Sciences Board of Visitors.
Mike lives in Madison on Lake Waubesa with his wife Regina Whitemarsh. Regina received a PhD in Microbiology from UW-Madison in 2013.
