The Opportunity

The Audiovisual and Event Support Student is responsible for supporting day-to-day event operations for the Town Center at the Discovery Building. We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer centric individual to support audiovisual, technology and event operations.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, testing, operation and troubleshooting of audio/video equipment and multi-media presentations and media recording/streaming equipment for live events.
  • Collaborate with event staff and clients in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service to event clients and guests. • Perform regular maintenance & testing of A/V systems.
  • Teardown and inventory of A/V equipment and inform supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment that is in need of repair or replacement. • Setup and teardown of stages, tables, chairs and event equipment.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as needed.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates should possess knowledge and experience working with audiovisual equipment and have a strong customer service and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Experience working independently as well as in a team environment and the ability to lift 25 lbs. We are looking for students who can work 10 – 15 hours per week. Working events on nights and weekends is required. Weekday evening shifts hours are typically between 5pm-10pm with Saturday morning shifts between 8am-3pm or Saturday evenings between 3pm-10pm.

The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation helps steward the cycle of research, discovery, commercialization and investment for the University of Wisconsin–Madison. WARF also manages the Town Center within the Discovery Building, which provides platforms for hands-on activities that link scientific research and the general public, offering a window on the real-time process of discovery.
