Digital Humanities Web Application Developer  (Part-time, contract) (Deadline 6/15/20)

Seeking a part-time contract programmer for development, testing and implementation of new features and fixes of existing bugs for Digital Mappa (digitalmappa.org), a DH platform for linked and annotative data for cohorts of digital images and texts. Employer: Department of English, UW-Madison

Location: Madison, WI (remote work permitted)

Rate: $50-80/hr depending on degrees completed and experience

Hours:  initial contract of 120 hours, 20hr/wk for 6 weeks; subsequent contract of additional 240-360 hours, 20hr/wk for 12-16 weeks upon successful and satisfactory completion of first contract. 

Timeframe: July- December 2020

Requirements:

• Completed BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; upper-level undergraduates with appropriate proficiencies may be considered.

• Experience/interest in Digital Humanities software development

• Python, JavaScript, Ruby/Rails, PostgreSQL, React, ActiveStorage, SendGrid, ImageMagick, OpenSeadragon

• Experience with IIIF and Web Annotation standards
