Qualifications and requirements:

– Education, training or professional experience in computer science, data science, data management or another related field

– Knowledge of Oracle Database Systems and tools

– Knowledge of Python, TensorFlow and machine learning

– Knowledge of web applications and agile methodology

– Skilled in process analysis, improvement, and documentation

– Knowledge of R and R Shiny and standard data science packages, like tidyverse

– Knowledge of SQL and GIS

Job description:

Snapshot Wisconsin is a volunteer based project for wildlife monitoring. We are hiring a data engineer and scientist to provide data assurance and quality, improved database operation, analysis of wildlife photo data, and use and display of final data.. The person in this position is expected to have skills in statistics, data wrangling, data visualization, database management, computer programming, and machine learning. This person will work with a small team of web-app developers and the larger Snapshot Wisconsin team towards the project goals of providing products needed for wildlife decision support of deer, elk, turkeys and other Wisconsin wildlife. Note: Each position is half time (20 hours/week). Preference is to hire one individual to work full time (40 hours/week). Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for both positions. Start date is flexible.
