Jpilot
Jpilot is similar to the Windows software distributed with the palm pilot. It contains installation support, Address, ToDo, Datebook, and Memo GUI's, and support for syncing the four main applications, as well as for backing up the entire system.
Jpilot is installed in
/s/jpilot/bin and in
/s/std/bin.
On Linux systems:
Use device /dev/ttyS1 for sync'ing Palm Pilots; /dev/ttyS0 is reserved for computers with serial mice.

Pilot-link Library
The
pilot-link library is the basis for most, if not all, of the software available for the PalmPilot. This library is installed in
/s/pilot-link with include files in
/s/pilot-link/include and library files in
/s/pilot-link/lib. Perl5 modules are installed in
/s/pilot-link/perl5.

PilotManager
PilotManager is a Perl/Tk program which was originally written with the Sun CDE in mind. It contains support for conduits, and expects that actual editing be done in other programs. Several conduits are currently installed, but no active support is planned.
PilotManager is installed in
/s/pilotmgr/bin

Sync'ing A USB-based Palm Device
Before starting any Pilot programs:
- Plugin hot-sync USB cradle
- Plugin Palm device into the cradle
- Press the hot-sync button
This will load USB devices drivers and configure the USB devices on the computer.
USB-based Palm devices should use
/dev/ttyUSB0 or
/dev/ttyUSB1, depending on which USB port you connected the device to.
To tell the
JPilot programs which port to use, you can set the
PILOTPORT environment variable before starting jpilot program, or you can specify the device name in
File->Preferences menu, then select the
Settings tab.
Syncal
Syncal syncs your
Pilot Datebook with your
Ical calendar files. It contains support for DateBk3-style Datebook additions.
It is installed as part of the pilot-link package in
/s/pilot-link/bin and also in
/s/std/bin.
