There are 2 laptop stations available in the CS department on the CS networks. These are for people who want a network connection for short term use.
The Location of the Laptop Stations
There is a laptop station in 1359, on the table along the east wall near laser3, Where the laptop network signs are. The other is located in 3370B, against the wall closest to the hallway and to the left of the door.
What Network Configuration Should I Use?
We recommend that you use DHCP to get your IP information. You do not need to do anything to register your computer in DHCP, it will be assigned an IP out of a pre defined block. If you do not want to use DHCP or you can't, use the information below to configure your laptop.
Warning:It is important that you not use the hostname and IP below anywhere but the associated laptops station so that others can use the IP when at the laptop station.

Why Can't I Reach Any Hosts Outside Of The Laptops Network?
The laptops and wireless network requires users to authenticate to the gateway before they can use the network. Use your web browser to go to
http://wireless-gw.cs.wisc.edu to see instructions on how to authenticate and how to download an ssh client if needed.
