Madison Brew Pubs

• The Great Dane The Dane started just off the capitol square, and is still home to a nice restaurant and brew pub. They now also have brew pubs in Fitchburg and Hilldale Mall.

• J.T. Whitney's The beer is OK, the food is worse, but you get free beer on your birthday, and it is infinitely better than the Nitty Gritty.

Brew Pubs within Biking Distance

• The Grumpy Troll in Mount Horeb. Take the Military Ridge trail from Madison. Its about a 20 mile ride from the edge of town, but well worth the effort. The beer is great, the people are friendly, and the food is good too.
