Introduction
Welcome. You have reached the virtual home of Graduates Anonymous
(formerly known as Graduate Mentoring). Here you
will find information about who we are, what we do,
and how you can become involved. You can also find an assortment
of other useful facts and tips about CS department
life, which you might not find out on your own. We
encourage you to read on and explore the other pages
of the site.
Who we are
First off, we are a group of graduate students just
like you. There're no faculty or administrators here
telling us what to say or do. We simply want to help
fellow CS grad students make it through this often
stressful, self-doubting, hectic, and confusing
time. We range from 1st years and up, and span most
research areas. Short personal profiles and photos
(so you know who we are if you see us around) can be
found on the aptly-named personal profiles page.
What we do
We are here to answer any and all questions you may
have about department life, University life, and
Madison. We host informal activities to give students
an opportunity to relax, as well as provide a place where
you can come to discuss issues
like choosing courses, preparing for quals,
selecting a minor, etc. We can also answer questions
about Madison in general, such as where to buy
pillow cases, or whether there is any quality
Mexican food in town. While Graduates Anonymous
initially emerged as an idea to help first-year
students find their way, the program is aimed at ALL
graduate students. Even if you're a department
veteran, please come and ask questions (and help
answer others).
Detailed information about our events
can be found on the activities page.
How you can get involved
If you are interested in helping out,
or have ideas for other things we could do, please
contact us through the contact page. We are always
looking to expand our department coverage and get new
faces involved.
