Maquina Project
Who Are We?
Enlight is a student organization on the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering campus. We are, in a nutshell, a group of people interested in computers, programming, electronics, building things, taking things apart, and enjoying technology as a community. In the best possible sense of the word, we are a group of geeks ![]()
We are open to all students and interested in meeting you! To give you an idea of our current membership: at the moment, most of our members are undergraduate students from Freshmen to Seniors in one of the following majors:
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mathematics
Also, a note on age & class standing: there’s no such thing as an age or class standing in Enlight! Most of our members started dropping by when they were Freshmen or Sophomores and never left, while others got “roped in” by their friends during their Junior or Senior years. Everything goes!
Our Purpose
To provide an open forum for students of all knowledge and experience levels to discuss, learn and interact with bleeding-edge computer technology. To allow our members to give and receive insight and support for personal projects. To use technology to give back to the University and to the community through service events and projects.
What Do We Do?
We are involved in and working on a number of projects. See our Projects page for more details. One of our largest projects is control hardware and software for the Maquina Fountain outside Engineering Hall, but we are interested in many different things, and would love to help out with your project ideas as well!
What Are Our Meetings Like?
Informal! We’re a group of real people working on real stuff simply because it interests us and we want to. We keep down the logistical overheads (officers, voting, etc) to an absolute minimum (think: once per year, if we remember
). On the other hand, we like to keep up the pizza, technology talk, and general good-natured hanging out. Why not stop by and see for yourself? Our current meeting times are posted on the Homepage, and are also available on our Calendar. There’s no “membership” required or anything like that, so drop in any time your free!
