- Computer Sciences
I am an assistant professor of computer sciences who joined the department in January 2011. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2010, I was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, jointly appointed to the departments of mathematics and computer science. I completed my Ph.D. degree in computer science at Stanford University under the supervision of Ron Fedkiw. Before moving to the United States, I completed a B.Sc. in Computer Science (2000) and a B.Sc. in Mathematics (2002), both from the University of Crete, Greece.
My current research revolves around computer graphics, physics-based modeling/simulation and scientific computing. I am particularly interested in the development of algorithms and numerical techniques that can facilitate the efficient and accurate simulation of parts of the human body, with focus on applications in biomechanics and virtual surgery.
