Post-Undergraduate or Post-Masters Research Intern in Engineering / Optics / Hyperspectral Remote Sensing

Employer:

Townsend Lab, UW-Madison

Location:

Madison, WI
United States

Deadline:

Thursday, June 16, 2016

The Townsend Lab (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/townsend/) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an enthusiastic post-BS or post-MS level paid intern interested in developing research and application experience in technological aspects of remote sensing. This will be a great opportunity to gain experience in a research lab to prepare for graduate school in an engineering, physics or remote sensing discipline. Our NASA-funded research uses hyperspectral measurements from a variety of platforms (handheld, tractor, UAV, airplane) to estimate biological properties of ecosystems.  We are looking for a 1-year intern who brings engineering experience to our efforts: you will work collaboratively with us and our partners to develop novel new platforms and integrate instruments onto those platforms for various measurements.  This includes a UAV system we have recently developed and for which we have FAA permission to fly.  This position can begin any time after June 1, 2016.
