Are you excited about open-source and open government? Volunteer to help make Wisconsin more open.

Needed: Person with experience using Ruby on Rails to build and modify a website

What is the project? Building a website, patterned after OpenMissouri.org, that makes it easy for journalists and citizens to make open records requests. All code for OpenMissouri.org is open source, so the groundwork is laid. This project will take that code and adapt it for a Wisconsin website.

What does interning for the project look like? The hours required to complete this project are flexible and task-oriented, meaning that you can work on it whenever as long as we stay on tract to complete it by the end of the semester. We will have weekly meetings to talk about hos the project is developing.

This is a volunteer position. I am a graduate student completing this project as an AP-Google Scholar. The AP-Google Scholar Program is one that encourages students to develop digitally-advanced journalism projects. I am excited about data-driven journalism and open-source government, this website will add to both of those areas for the state of Wisconsin.

If interested, send an email stating experience with Ruby on Rails and a resume to Emily Eggleston at eeggleston@wisc.edu.
