Here is a cool skybox implemented that simulated the effect of a panoramic view. A hilly ground terrain is formed by loading a targa modelwith heights based on blackness, and then generates a mesh through a procedural call, giving a more realistic ground.




The fountain is a particle system and each spray is billboarded, so they look like little spheres without the insane rendering time of rendering over 1000 spheres. The building is lighted with environment map. Fog to give the appearance of distance. The tall building with awnings and the central building. Adds some depth to the scene and looks great.






Hierachical model and particle system


All Sprites are 2D images that always face the camera's xz coordinate. They use textures with transparencies and the image changes to face the correct direction.
