The UW Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics announces the David L. DeMets Lectures in Health and Quantitative Investigation.

Speaker David Heckerman’s research interests include developing machine learning and statistical approaches for biological and medical applications including HIV vaccine design and genomics.

The DeMets Lectures were established to honor David L. DeMets, former chair of the UW Department of Biostatistics & Medical Informatics and a UW ICTR assistant executive director. DeMets is an international leader in statistical research and methods for the analysis of clinical trials. He has collaborated in the development of statistical methods for the sequential analysis of outcome data and the design of clinical trials. He has served on and chaired numerous NIH and industry-sponsored Data Safety and Monitoring Committees for clinical trials in diverse disciplines.
