This talk will cover the history of why Facebook decided to build RocksDB, some details about its internal architecture and the current roadmap of the technology.
Bio: Venkat was the Engineering Director responsible for online data management at Facebook and managed teams responsible for storing and serving Facebook's user data. He helped conceive, build and scale technologies (such as TAO, Memcache, McRouter, MySQL & RocksDB) that enabled a 1000x growth during his 8 year tenure. Prior to that he spent 5 years at Oracle in the Database Manageability team after graduating with a Masters in CS from UW-Madison. He left Facebook 6 months ago and is in the process of figuring out what's next for him. He has also been working closely with a group of volunteers to start the UW CS Alumni club in the San Francisco Bay Area.
