# CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 5th International Workshop on Human Aspects in Adaptive and Personalized Interactive Environments (HAAPIE 2020), in conjunction with the ACM UMAP 2020, goes virtual! # WHEN Saturday, July 18, 2020 -- 12:00-17:30 UTC +2 (Genoa, Italy, local time) # WHAT The virtual workshop’s schedule is available on-line: http://haapie.cs.ucy.ac.cy/programme.aspx # HOW HAAPIE is a workshop with a strong interdisciplinary focus, consisting of invited talks, oral presentations, expert panel discussions, as well as interactive sessions. It aims at bringing new ideas, introduce methods and suggest novel solutions on how to bring more inclusively the “human-in-the-loop” during the user modelling, adaptation and personalization process. This year it is with our great pleasure to host two keynote speakers: Prof. Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Northeastern University at Silicon Valley, that he will talk about ''Personalization, Bias and Privacy''; and Dr. Dimitris Sacharidis, TU Wien, that will discuss how to ''Build User Trust in Recommendations via Fairness and Explanations''. In addition, we have selected 5 full papers for presentation elaborating on topics related to confusion detection datasets in affective computing; personalized interventions in the form of prompts and nudges for lifelong learning in healthcare; personalization in the context of hearing aids; human-centered behavior of agents in decentralized social networks; and an architecture in MOOC accounting for the learner's Flow psychological state. At the end of the day there will be a summary of outcomes and goals to feed future research directions and collaborations. # ORGANIZERS Panagiotis Germanakos, SAP SE & University of Cyprus Vania Dimitrova, University of Leeds Ben Steichen, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona Alicja Piotrkowicz, Scaled Insights & University of Leeds
