The University of Glasgow, Scotland UK, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the up-coming EC-Flagship project INFINITECH. INFINITECH is focused on the development of artificial intelligence services designed to support next-generation financial data analytics, integrating information from a wide variety of (Big Data, IoT and Open Data) sources. Within INFINITECH, we are looking for a motivated researcher to investigate the effectiveness and efficiency challenges within the financial services domain, as well as develop new algorithms and extend existing algorithms to meet the increasing demands of the financial sector.  Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge in two or more of the following

 Artificial Intelligence  Deep Neural Network Architectures
 Big Data Analytics
 Search  Information Retrieval technologies
 Stream Data Processing (including associated frameworks such as Flink and Spark)
 Financial Service Algorithms
 ClusterCloud Deployment Infrastructure and Optimisation (using frameworks like Openshift)

The successful candidate will join the Glasgow Information Retrieval (IR) group, working with Professor Iadh Ounis, Dr Craig Macdonald and Dr Richard McCreadie. The Glasgow IR group is the foremost Information Retrieval group in Europe (created back in 1984) and is one of the largest academic groups in IR worldwide. Our primarily focus is text retrieval and analysis, spanning tasks such as Search, Recommendation, Classification and Summarization – in this case targeting financial service use-cases within INFINITECH. 

Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 67, £29,176 - £32,817  £35,845 - £40,322 per annum. This post is full time with funding up to 27 months in the first instance.
