**Call for Papers: Privacy and Security Issues for Medical Data** Special Issue of International Journal of Computational Models and Algorithms in Medicine Digitalizing and sharing medical data is crucial to curb the growing healthcare costs and facilitate medical research. However, privacy and security issues remain major barriers during this process. As required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), it is necessary to protect the privacy of patients and ensure the security of the medical data. This special issue aims to publish papers on novel algorithms and computational models as well as applications to address the privacy and security issues for medical data. TOPICS ====== This special issue solicits original contributions, not currently under review or accepted by another journal. Extended versions of conference or workshop papers are also allowed, with a minimal of 30% new material. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): * Technological solutions to ensuring privacy and security of medical data * Privacy preserving data mining for medical data * Anonymizing medical data * Access control, authorization, authentication and role based schemes in medical databases * Security and privacy issues for electronic health records * Secure and privacy preserving integration of medical data * Experiences and lessons learned when applying privacy and security solutions in medical field * Legal, policy, and management issues related to privacy and security in medical field * Privacy and security issues in E-health and M-health Submission Guidelines ===================== Prospective authors should prepare manuscripts according to the Information for Authors as published in recent issues of the journal or at http://www.igi-global.com/development/author_info/guide.asp. The paper should be in word or RTF format (Latex is not accepted) and between 5000- 8000 words (including appendix and references). Manuscripts should be sent by email to the guest editor of the special issue as specified below.
