                        CALL FOR PAPERS

                          ICDCN 2010
11th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking
               January 3-6, 2010, Kolkata, India

             Conference Website: http://www.icdcn.org
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Organized by the University of Calcutta, Department of Computer Science
and Engineering, in collaboration with the Techno India Group, the
11th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking
(ICDCN 2010) will be held in Kolkata, India, during January 3-6, 2010.
Over the years, ICDCN has become a leading forum for disseminating the
latest research results in distributed computing and networking. The
historic city of Kolkata is one of the biggest cities in India, where
tradition and modernity blend in harmony.

SCOPE
-----

Technical papers describing original, previously unpublished results
are solicited in all areas of theory and practice of distributed
systems and networking. As in the past, ICDCN 2010 will be organized
in two tracks: Distributed Computing and Networking. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:

   Distributed Computing Track
   ---------------------------
   Communication and Synchronization Protocols
Distributed Algorithms and Architectures, their Analysis and Complexity
   Distributed Operating Systems, Middleware, Databases
Experiments and Performance Measurements in Distributed Systems
   Fault-tolerance, Self-stabilization, Autonomic Computing
High Performance, Cluster and Grid Computing, e-sciences
Multiprocessor and Multi-core Architectures and Algorithms
   Security in Distributed Systems
Shared and Transactional Memory, Concurrent Programming
Specification, Debugging, and Verification of Distributed Systems
   Embedded distributed systems
   Distributed opportunistic computing

   Networking Track
   ----------------
Wireless Networks: Cellular Networks, and Wireless LANs
Sensor Networks, Ad Hoc Networks, and Mesh Networks
   Mobile and Pervasive Computing
   Overlay and Peer-to-Peer Networks
Integration of Heterogeneous Wireless and Wired Networks
   Internetworking Protocols and Internet Applications
   Network Reliability, Security and Privacy
Resource Management and Quality of Service
   Performance Modeling and Evaluation
   Traffic Engineering, Pricing, Network Management
   Next Generation Network Architectures

PAPER SUBMISSION
----------------

A submission should report on original, previously unpublished research
not being concurrently considered elsewhere for publication in a journal
or conference. Papers should not exceed twelve single-spaced pages using
at least 11-point fonts and one-inch margins on all sides on A4/Letter
size pages, including references, figures, tables etc. Authors may also
attach an appendix that contains proofs etc. However, the paper must be
self-contained without the appendix in that reviewers may not read the
appendix. All papers must be submitted electronically through the
submissions link in the conference website. Like the previous years,
Springer is expected to publish the conference proceedings with accepted
papers in the LNCS series. Some papers that are judged to have limited
merit may be accepted as short papers, with up to six pages in the
proceedings. At the time of submission, authors should indicate if they
wish to submit to Distributed Computing or Networking track, and also if
they wish to have their paper considered as a short paper if it is not
accepted as a full paper. At least one author of each accepted paper must
register, attend the conference and present the paper.

Extended versions of selected papers from ICDCN 2010 will be considered
for publication in the Theoretical Computer Science journal
(www.elsevier.com/locate/tcs) and in the Pervasive and Mobile Computing
journal (www.elsevier.com/locate/pmc).

BEST PAPER AWARD
----------------

ICDCN 2010 will have two Best Paper Awards, one for each track. The
Program Committee may decline to make an award.

TUTORIALS AND KEYNOTE TALKS
---------------------------

The first day of the conference will feature several half-day tutorials.
The conference will also feature a number of keynote and invited talks
from leading researchers in the field.

IMPORTANT DATES
---------------

Paper Submission Deadline: July 13, 23.59 PM (midnight) US EST 2009.
Notification of Acceptance: September 15, 2009
Camera-ready Paper Due: October 13, 2009
Conference: January 3-6, 2010

PH.D. FORUM
-----------

ICDCN 2010 will host a Ph.D. Forum to encourage young researchers to
present and discuss their works with their peers. This Ph.D. forum is best
suited for students who already have a plan outlined for their dissertation
in the broad area of Distributed Computing and Networking. This forum will
provide a friendly and supportive environment for doctoral students to
present and discuss their dissertation research both with their peers
and with a panel of experienced researchers from academia and industry.
In addition to providing feedback and advice, this forum will provide
an opportunity for students to network as well as to practice presenting
their research clearly and concisely.

The PhD Forum will be an event consisting of short student presentations,
discussion, and a roundtable discussion. Each participant will be allowed
10 minutes to make a short presentation. Thereafter, an in-depth and
constructive discussion led by the panel will follow. The event will
conclude with a roundtable discussion, in which panelists will have another
opportunity to provide general suggestions and advice to the entire group.

Though this forum is primarily targeted towards PhD students, exceptional
B.Tech. and M.tech./MS students who have formulated a research project and
obtained some good results will also be considered. A limited number of
student fellowships will also be provided to offset some of the costs for
attending the conference.

More details of the forum can be found on the conference website.
