SECONDO 2.6 and a Moving Objects Demo
=====================================

SECONDO is an experimental DBMS prototype developed at University of
Hagen, Germany. It is extensible by collections of data types and
operations, called algebra modules, and it provides fairly sophisticated
modules for dealing with spatio-temporal data, or moving objects. It
includes query optimization and visualization/animation of moving objects.

SECONDO runs on Linux, Windows (up to XP) and Mac OS X (up to 10.4)
platforms and is available at

   http://dna.fernuni-hagen.de/Secondo.html

The moving objects part provides data types to represent time dependent
point and region data together with a fairly large subset of the
operations defined in [1].

Recently a description has been added that allows you to perform a
"Do-it yourself demo" of querying moving objects relatively easily,
without reading all the manuals first. You need to run the installation
script (may take half an hour or so), but after that can do the demo
right away. Instructions for the demo can be found at the URL above,
following the link "A Moving Objects DBMS", or directly via

   http://dna.fernuni-hagen.de/Secondo.html/Secondo-mod.pdf

Enjoy!
