                     CALL FOR PAPERS

   15th Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2008)
      Dec 3-5, 2008, Beijing, China
      http://lcs.ios.ac.cn/~apsec08

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The fifteenth Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC)
will be held in Beijing, China. APSEC is the leading international
conference in software engineering and technology in the Asia-Pacific
region. APSEC 2008 will bring together researchers and practitioners
from industry, academia, and government to share the state of the art
technology in software engineering.

This year's theme is Software for Dependable Systems. We seek to
explore emerging challenges in software for dependable systems.
With the increasingly pervasive nature of embedded and ubiquitous
software, our lives are increasingly dependent on software.
Software engineering is facing challenges of safety, dependability,
sustainability, and various other aspects in the development of such
software or the provision of services using software. The challenges
are in both the software development methods and methods for obtaining
assurance that dependability has been achieved.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Dependable Computing
- Software Reliability Engineering
- Ubiquitous and Embedded Software
- Software Metrics and Measurement
- Program Analysis and Understanding
- Service-Oriented Architecture
- Software Architecture
- Requirements Engineering
- Domain-Specific Software Development
- Software Product-Line Engineering
- Component-Based Software Engineering
- Aspect-Oriented Software Technology
- Software Maintenance and Evolution
- Reverse Engineering
- Empirical Software Engineering
- Software Project Management
- Software Process Improvement
- Testing, Verification and Validation
- Formal Methods
- Quality Management
- Global Software Development and Outsourcing
- Software Engineering Education

Workshops:

APSEC 2008 also invites submissions of workshop proposals. The
workshops co-located with the conference should provide an
opportunity for exchanging views, advancing ideas, and discussing
preliminary results on software engineering research and applications.
Workshop proposals should be directly sent to Workshop chair,
Jianjun Zhao (zhao-jj@cs.sjtu.edu.cn), by e-mail in plain text,
not exceeding 3 pages, including one page preliminary call for papers,
their relevance to the conference, expected number of presenters and
participants, and a brief description of the workshop organizers.
All the workshop participants are required to register for the
conference.

Paper Submissions:

APSEC 2008 will seek research papers and experience reports.
All papers and reports must be prepared in IEEE format
(http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_forms.html)
and must not exceed eight pages in length, including figures and
references. Submission of papers will be carried out electronically
in PDF or postscript format via the conference webpage
http://lcs.ios.ac.cn /~apsec08. Submitted research papers will be
reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical quality,
and relevance to the conference. Submitted experience reports will be
evaluated for impact, correctness, and lessons learned. Concurrent
submission to this conference and other conferences/journals is not
allowed. Accepted papers and reports will be included in the conference
proceedings to be published by the IEEE Computer Society and in its
Digital Library.
