= Aims and Scope = 

The Web are ever-increasing in size and involving a quite broad range of 
technologies such as databases, XML and digital contents, data and Web 
mining, Web services, semantic Web and ontology, information 
retrieval, and others. XWICT 2006 will be held in conjunction with 
WAIM 2006 conference and invites original research contribution on 
XML, Web, and Internet contents technologies. XWICT 2006 aims at 
bringing together researchers in different fields related to XML and 
Web who have a common interest in interdisciplinary research. The 
workshop provides a forum where researchers and practitioners can 
share and exchange their knowledge and experience. 


= Topics of Interest = 

The XWICT 2006 topics include but are certainly not limited to the 
following areas: 

* Web contents management and organization 
* XML and semi-structured data management 
* Web information systems 
* Web search and information retrieval on Web 
* Web mining 
* Web services and Web applications 
* Semantic Web and Web ontology 
* Data integration on Web 
* Web privacy and security 

We strongly encourage submission of papers bridging the research in 
different fields and promoting mutual exchange and understanding of 
cross-field research results. 


= Publication and Submission Details = 

The proceedings will be published by Hong Kong Polytechnic University Press and also put 
online. The formal proceedings will be published after the workshop. 

All submissions should be in English. Submission of a paper should be 
regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at 
least one author will attend the workshop to present the work. 

Papers should not exceed 8 pages in US Letter or A4 double column 
format. Papers have to present original research contributions not 
concurrently submitted elsewhere. Papers must be submitted to

by e-mails. All manuscripts will be reviewed by members of the program 
committee based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and 
clarity of exposition.
