Call for Papers
Open INTEROP Workshop On
"Enterprise Modelling and Ontologies for Interoperability"
EMOI-INTEROP 2006
<><><><><><><><>
Co-located with CAiSE'06 Conference
Luxembourg, 5th-6th June 2006
<><><><><><><><>
You are invited to submit a paper to the third edition EMOI-INTEROP
workshop focused on the themes of enterprise software interoperability,
and in particular on the solutions based on ontologies and conceptual
modelling of enterprise organizations and the supporting technological
solutions. The workshop is promoted and supported by INTEROP, a Network
of Excellence of the 6 Framework Program, IST, of the European Union.
INTEROP aims at creating a Europe-wide research network on the themes
oriented to the development of solutions for enterprise software
interoperability, from the technological, to methodological,
organizational, and cultural perspectives.
World-class competitiveness of European enterprises, including SMEs,
will strongly depend, in the future, on their ability to massively
and rapidly concretise on dynamic networked organisations. New
technologies and methodologies for Interoperability, within and
between enterprises, are needed to radically solve the recurrent
difficulties - largely due to the lack of conceptual approaches -
encountered to structure and interlink enterprises' systems
(including information, decision, action, production).
Today, research on interoperability of enterprise software applications
does not exist as a defined discipline. INTEROP has entered in its
third year of activities, reorganising its program in order to enhance
the integration among the three key thematic areas:
- Ontology to identify interoperability semantics in enterprises
- Enterprise Modelling to define interoperability requirements and models
- Architectures and Enabling technologies to provide implementation
frameworks
Within this frame, we wish to call papers for the Third Open EMOI-INTEROP
Workshop co-located with CAiSE'06. It will have a double nature: firstly,
it will be an open event where on going research on the above areas,
with a special focus on modelling for interoperability, will be presented
and confronted; secondly, it will reserve a space for the presentation of
activities carried out within the INTEROP NoE, and in particular for the
research areas of Enterprise Modelling, Architectures and Platform
Modeling, and Ontologies.
- Main topics -
The topics of the workshop will be mainly those coming from the three
research domains indicated above: Enterprise Modeling, Ontologies and
the modeling issues related to Architectures and Platforms, in the
perspective of interoperability among Enterprise Software Applications
(ESA).
Furthermore, we wish to emphasise that this is an Open Workshop,
therefore we wish to invite contributions from the scientific
community wishing to address the main themes of the CAiSE conference,
in the light and with the specificity of the workshop.
In particular, we invite papers that address (but not exclusively) the
following topics:
- Ontology languages and reasoning for interoperability
- Ontology management for interoperable systems
- Ontology-based Search and Discovery of digital resources
- Practical impact of ontologies on ESA interoperability
- Ontology interoperability (i.e., mapping, transformation, fusion, …)
- Requirements Engineering for ontologies and enterprise applications
- Methodologies, Models, and Tools for ontology building
- Use of ontologies in enterprise and software application modelling
- Ontologies and Service Oriented Architectures
- Ontologies and Model Driven Development of enterprise software
applications
- Enterprise Modelling Methods and Tools, in light of achieving
interoperability
- Interoperable Inter-enterprise Workflow Systems, ontology
supported
- Knowledge Management, Metadata and Ontologies
- Ontology-based semantic annotation
- Enterprise Application Analysis and semantic divergence detection
- Languages and Protocols for ontology-based interoperability
- Semantic Web and its impact to interoperability
** Workshop Organization **
The workshop will last two days, with the aim of allowing a wide and
open debate on new, emerging ideas to take place in the
cross-fertilizing area of ontologies, enterprise and software
applications modelling for interoperability. The workshop will be
organised in four sections, suitably balanced, with different aims:
- Tutorial session: that will consist of a presentations focused on
the interplay of Ontologies and Enterprise Modelling
- Full papers session
- Poster session
- Open discussion session
In the full Paper Session there will be a Keynote talk, from a
prominent international expert. The Open discussion session will
give space to the most relevant results emerged in the workshop,
giving also the possibility to establish contacts and plan future
common activities.
** Important dates **
Submission:
- Full papers, with a maximum length of 12 pages, before ** March 13th 2006 **NEW**
- Poster presentation, 4 pages length, before April 5th 2006. Poster
papers will be directly submitted in final form. If accepted, they
will be published as submitted.
All accepted papers will be published in the EMOI Workshop Proceedings.
There will be also an electronic version of the Proceedings published
in a primary public site. The eProceedings of the previous workshops
are available at:
EMOI-INTEROP ’05: http://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/Vol-160/
EMOI-INTEROP ’04: http://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/Vol-125/
Papers should be sent to: interop-wsp@iasi.cnr.it
Notification of acceptance:
- Full papers: March 31st 2006
- Poster presentations: April 14th 2006, accepted poster presentations
will be published as submitted (no second round is foreseen)
Camera ready:
- Full Papers: April 14th 2006
Note: All papers should be edited according to the Springer Verlag Format
